In the General Chapter of Bologna
held earlier this year, Dominican
Provincials from around the world
gathered. At the end of the Chapter
they write the “Acts of the
Chapter.” Some exciting news comes
in the Prologue to the Acts!
The emphasis on being “sent
to preach” has
been directed to the friars and the
sisters of the Order of Preachers in
past years. This year the Chapter
addresses “the
whole Dominican family!" That
includes you and me. We are sent to
preach the Gospel to the men and
women of our time with a vitality
that is ever new.” This call demands
of us the development of a
“friendship with God and with the
world” which makes “a more positive
preaching possible because it
discovers the grace of God in those
who surround us.”
