Presider: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth. Let us pray that our hearts and minds embrace the Spirit’s gifts and increase our faith, hope and charity.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”
1.That Pope Francis, Bishop _________, clergy, religious, and laity accept the Spirit’s gift of Knowledge to increase awareness of the conditions, situations, and needs of our communities, we pray
2.That politicians and leadership of nations and communities embrace the Spirit’s gift of fortitude to discern and react to the truth of human needs without partisanship, we pray
3.That people of faith accept the Spirit’s gift of piety in their hearts and minds to faithfully think and act with God’s love, we pray
4.That employers and workers accept the Spirit’s gift of wisdom to work with integrity and consideration for quality of family life and the common good, we pray,
5.That Christians seek the Spirit’s gift of understanding to know pain, anxiety, and disaster as a sharing in the Cross of the Lord, we pray
6.That Christians accept the Spirit’s gift of counsel to form a habit of faith applied to good and bad events of life, we pray
7.That pilgrims approaching the portal of death may know the Spirit’s gift of fear of the Lord moving them from dread of punishment to awe at the compassion, mercy, and love of the Lord, we pray,
8.That constructive dialogue replace violence on college campuses, we pray,
9.That the Spirit be present in areas of war and armed conflict. May the Spirit that is the Love of God overwhelm angry and rapacious hearts to seek peace and care for all people, we pray
Presider: O God, you taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that in the same Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation. Through Christ our Lord.
