Second

SUNDAY

of

ADVENT

Each week Msgr. Brockman of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh, NC, is writing General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies.

GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

Second Sunday of Advent (Cycle A)

December 7, 2025

Deacon/Reader:

1.     For those who prepare the way of the Lord, for Pope Leo and Bishop Luis, for our priests, deacons and lay leaders, that in these Advent days, we may see God as our strength, the shepherd of our soul, and the healer of that which separates us from Him, we pray to the Lord…

2.     Called to see the kindness of Our Lord, that in these Advent days, we may know and be strengthened as instruments of His mercy, especially as we seek to know that same peace in receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we pray to the Lord…

3.     That all who are ill, isolated or alone may find new hope in the tender love and healing care God has for all His People, especially as we accompany them in prayer and attend to their needs, we pray to the Lord…

4.     May God’s generosity be more our own, as we pray and encourage others, that they be blessed with the strength they need, we pray to the Lord…

5.     For the gift of peace among nations and peoples, that Our Lord will raise up heralds to set a path to Him and away from the brutality of war and every indignity against the human person; and for wisdom and courage for those who serve as First Responders and in our military, we pray to the Lord…

6.     That all those who have died, may in God’s mercy, be gathered into the fullness of His Kingdom and the tender comfort of God’s Peace, especially our parishioners Patricia Taussig and Mary Thuente, who died this week…

Celebrant: Loving Father, hear us and fill us with the Joy of the One Who comes, as we pray in His Holy Name, through Christ our Lord. R: Amen.
